Data Encryption

Data encryption scrambles the contents of a file to render it unreadable to anyone without the correct decryption key or password.

Strong encryption, combined with effective key or password management, protects sensitive data from unauthorized access, modification, disclosure or theft. Data encryption can be used for data that is stored and for data that is being transmitted or transported.

Files saved to OneDrive and SharePoint are encrypted in transit and at rest on Microsoft's cloud servers.

Use SFTP rather than FTP to ensure that file transfers are encrypted.
